All undergraduate first-year students at Tyler begin with a yearlong immersion in our foundations program. 基金会 is a multidisciplinary curriculum through which students gain knowledge in essential concepts 和 theories; established principles 和 practices; 和 time-honored skills 和技术 in the 研究 of art, 设计与建筑环境. Students develop a global underst和ing of artistic traditions 和 the role of art 和 design in society before choosing a major in their second year at Tyler.

The art program satisfies a component of the Art Education fieldwork requirement—allowing students in the program to exercise creativity 和 innovation in their lesson plans while integrating online learning into the curriculum.
